I’ve been doing online interior design, or eDesign, for a few years now, and I actually helped a large retailer develop their now defunct program (sidenote: when you try to undercut everyone else and chop designers’ pay to less than minimum wage, your pricing model is clearly not working). Anyway, that’s a digression I don’t need to dive into right now. Technology keeps evolving, and that means the tools at an eDesigner’s disposal continue to improve too. I’ve recently been learning some new software that’s going to take eDesign to a whole new level, and I wanted to share this amazing tool with you via a Palm Beach teen bedroom I designed.
This was a practice design to learn the software, but I was working with a set floor plan and with two teen sisters in mind, so there were constraints, as with any design project. Although it was super nice to not have to worry about budget! Don’t we all wish we could do that every day? 😉
When designing this room, the tropical motif curtain fabric served as the jumping off point. My designs are often inspired by one piece, whether it’s a fabric, a piece of art, or even a place. To me, this preppy tropical glam vibe is quintessential Palm Beach, and once I found the fabric, I could practically picture the entire bedroom in my mind.
No preppy Palm Beach teen bedroom would be complete without the classic black and white cabana stripe pattern, and I knew the fabric would be eye popping on these gorgeous upholstered beds.
This Palm Beach teen bedroom is both colorful and fun, but also timeless and sophisticated, so it could easily be converted to a guest room once both girls are out of the house.
What I’m most excited about with this new rendering program is the high quality images produced. These renders are nearly indistinguishable from photographs of actual rooms. When you are able to see your space in this level of detail before purchasing even one piece of furniture, you save yourself from making costly design mistakes. Working with a knowledgeable eDesigner for this service is an affordable alternative to traditional full service interior design, and you get the same gorgeous results!
For two teenage girls, this dressing table serves as both a vanity and a space to do homework. The cabana stripe stools are tucked under the table as a space saver, since the room is a bit tight with two large beds in it. I love seeing the reflection of the palm print curtains and the beautiful bedding!
Using the pink and green of the curtains in more subtle patterns in the bedding design keeps things interesting, but cohesive. The crystal chandeliers add another fabulous dimension to the room, making a statement, but keeping the Palm Beach teen bedroom sophisticated too.
A large dresser is used for storage, and some beautiful artwork and accessories compliment the sleek design.
