We’re on to week four of the Interior Design Style Files, and I’m excited to chat about California Glam, otherwise known as West Coast Glam. It might seem strange to distinguish between this style and Tropical Glam, but in truth, they don’t share a ton of commonalities. While also inspired by an oceanside locale, California Glam is a bit more modern and sometimes even edgier, and less preppy. This interior design style feels less lush and more minimalistic, often with white walls as a backdrop and a quieter color palette. California Glam is the least “glam” of all of the glam interior design styles, and often mixes in earthy, more modern textures and plants for life and warmth.

California Glam | West Coast Glam

California Glam interior design style combines mid century and other modern lined furniture with natural wood tones, subtle ocean scape color schemes, and large plants, for an overall relaxed and laid back vibe and a bit of a boho feel. This fairly minimalistic style brings in a subtle glam feel with feminine touches such as soft pink accents and brass metallics.

• Key Elements: Mid Century Modern style furniture, black and white color palette with subtle pops of color, modern art or patterns, textural layers, plants for warmth
• Must Have Pieces: black and white abstract art, modern sofa, mid century credenza
• Key Stores: Consort Home, Shop Super Marche, McGee and Co.
• Notable Designers: Mindy Laven, Amber Interiors
• Throw Pillows: Blush beaded pillow, black and white Kamila pillow, linen pillow
• Key Colors: strong use of black and white, often with soft accents of ocean and beach inspired hues such as blues, tans, and sometimes pinks
• Must Visit Location: The London, West Hollywood
