Elle Decor released their A-List of 100 Top Interior Designers last week, and obviously there are some fabulous talents on that list. I’m excited to dive in and research more of them when I get a chance! Elle Decor’s list got me thinking of who would be on my A-list, so today I’m sharing my personal list of top interior design bloggers AND designers. There are tons of other amazing top interior design bloggers who I love, but who don’t also have design firms. That will be a list for another day…
Pencil and Paper Creative Development Co.
I have to begin this list with a new favorite of mine, Pencil and Paper Creative Development Co. I found this interior design company and blog through the most recent One Room Challenge, and I’m sooo glad I did. The free but sophisticated use of color, not to mention their top notch styling skills, is right up my alley. But don’t take my word for it… Go check out Benjamin and Genifer’s company and prepare to be hooked!
Studio McGee
Ah, Studio McGee, how I love thee… If you’ve been around the interior design world at all, you know that Studio McGee is another husband and wife team who have skyrocketed to success because of their fresh aesthetic and expertise at mixing styles. They define their signature style as “bright, clean, and collected.” In addition to gorgeous inspiration, you’ll find super helpful design information on their blog, from current furniture and home decor favorites to styling tips, and everything in between.
I’m completely obsessed with their Ryan Park project, and it’s been a major factor in my desire to switch out our leather chesterfield sofa that I recently repaired for a navy velvet English roll arm.
Claire Brody Designs
Claire Brody Designs is another of my favorite top interior design bloggers and designers who uses the word “collected” to describe her style. Are you seeing a pattern here? 😉 Brody has perfected her eclectic but sophisticated look, and she is no stranger to budget friendly design, making me a huge fan. Check out her blog and portfolio for some major inspiration and well curated shopping lists.
This lounge she designed may have been intended for teens, but the level of refinement she brought to the space makes it suitable for adults too. Me, me, me please!
Coco Kelley | The Emerald Studio
When I first started reading interior design and decorating blogs, Coco Kelley (created by Cassandra LaValle) was on all of the “must read” lists, and for good reason. The blog is technically a lifestyle blog, covering travel, entertaining, and various other topics in addition to interior design, but it’s filled with some of the best “how to’s” and DIY’s in the blogosphere today, as well as house and room tours and tons of other interior inspiration.
In addition to a thriving lifestyle blog, LaValle founded The Emerald Studio, the interior design, event design, and brand styling portion of her business. The offices below were designed by said company for Coco Kelley, and there isn’t a detail out of place. Obsessed!
Lark & Linen
Jacquelyn Clark, the founder of Lark & Linen, is one of my favorite top interior design bloggers and she left a pretty great gig at Style Me Pretty to launch her own (now very successful) interior design company. #girlbossgoals! Her always fresh style has me swooning, and I love her use of molding in her designs. This bedroom is so on point, and with all of the experience and education this gal has, it’s no wonder everything she does comes together so beautifully!
Christine Dovey
I couldn’t create a list of my top interiors bloggers without including Christine Dovey… Her mix of traditionally pretty but slightly edgy designs is so, so good. Although it has a very different feel overall, her bedroom design from years ago inspired me to paint my bedroom wall black! To top it off, Dovey’s an expert at bringing in stunning architectural molding that brings every design to the next level. Her work and style is truly one of a kind!
Amber Interiors
Amber Interiors is a big name these days, and it’s no wonder why the founder, Amber Lewis, has made such a name for herself. Her signature elegant boho style with majorly beachy vibes pays homage to her deep California roots, and not only does she have a fantastic blog and successful interior design company, but she recently launched a shop with her own line of home goods. Lewis is seriously crushing it in the interior design world.
Becki Owens
If you’re looking for another top interiors blogger and designer with major Cali-cool vibes, you have to check out Becki Owens. Her fresh and airy signature design style is super inspirational, and the shopping lists on her blog are some of the best product roundups I’ve seen. She always seems to pick the perfect white for every space, and she’s not afraid of color, but uses it in such a well edited way that it still seems uber sophisticated!
Elements of Style | Erin Gates Design
What can I say about Erin Gates and her award winning blog, Elements of Style? Erin is a genius when it comes to interior design, and it’s basically in her blood from growing up with an architect father, but that’s not what makes her blog so addicting. Her friendly, humorous style literally makes me laugh out loud, and she totally feels like the friend I would sit down with over coffee to chat about interior design, fashion, pop culture, and sometimes even her fertility struggles. Erin keeps it real, and I love that!
In theory, Erin’s is the style I most aspire to, although I’m nowhere near it in reality. She effortlessly blends modern and traditional elements, animal prints, and just the right amount of color. If I could “grow up” into any interior designer, Erin Gates would be it!
Palm & Prep
I’m going to finish off my list of top interior design bloggers and designers with someone who is a little newer to the scene, Jenny of Palm & Prep. Jenny first caught my attention back in the fall when we both participated in the fall One Room Challenge. She totally knocked it out of the park with her master bedroom design, and basically everything I’ve seen of hers since then has been equally gorgeous. She describes her style as East Coast preppy traditionalist meets SoCal boho, and the combination is Oh. So. Good.
What do you think of my A-List? Who would YOU add?

Well excuse me as I pull myself off the floor. I thought at first perhaps this was an accident that my name is on a list including Studio McGee & Erin Gates. But no, you kind soul. Thank-you for amazing support you’ve shown me since the day we connected in the fall. You are the epitome of building community. As someone newer on the scene, with a constant nagging voice of “can I”, thank-you for making me feel, Yes I Can. Hugs. Thanks so much, you just made my day.
Ah, Jenny, I’m so glad this was a day brightener for you… You truly are a talent, and I am consistently in awe of your gorgeous designs! You deserve to be on this list, you ABSOLUTELY CAN, and I am excited to follow along and watch your career take off!
