Another month has flown by! It really is true what your parents tell you as a kid… Time flies as you get older. Especially once you have kids of your own. Summers in particular! Just trying to soak up the last few weeks we have before school starts up again. I can’t believe we have less than three weeks left. Sad face.
Country Concert
Besides our family’s annual Fourth of July week at the lake, the highlight of my month was the Luke Bryan and Sam Hunt concert at Target Field on the 21st. Morgan Wallen and Jon Pardi were also part of the lineup. As I mentioned last month, country isn’t my first choice of music genres, but it sure is Adam’s, and there’s something so summery about riding around in his pickup listening to country music. And I actually do love Sam Hunt’s music. Adam says that’s because his lyrics are country, but the actual music isn’t. 😉
You’ll have to forgive the terrible lighting and picture.
When Adam asked me if I wanted to go to the Luke Bryan concert, my first thought was that it meant another weekend away from the lake. But I could tell he really wanted to go, so I said I was in. A few days later, he mentioned that Sam Hunt would also be there, and I was like, “Babe, know your audience… You totally should have led with that!”
Fishing Trip and County Fair
Adam and my dad took Kaden up North alone last weekend for his first big kid fishing trip. They didn’t catch anything, but he said the best part was just being in the boat with Dad and Grandpa, and I know he’ll remember that trip forever. It’s all about making memories, right?!
While the boys were gone for the weekend, my mom took me, Bells, my sister and her family to the County Fair. The girls are hilarious together. #sistercousins

Kind of an awkward pose with me and Bells, but at least there is proof that I was there! 😉 I really need to get better at having people snap pictures of me with my family! Anyway, I’m sporting my new Ray Ban Polarized Clubmaster sunnies… Love them! You can buy them at Anthropologie, but I actually scored mine for a third of the cost on ebay. The key to buying sunglasses on ebay is to only buy brand new with original packaging. And from a reputable seller with good feedback, obviously. I’ve purchased multiple pairs of Oakleys and now these Ray Bans that way and have had great luck!
Summer Reading
I’ve recently read two books that I couldn’t put down. The first was The Song of Hartgrove Hall by Natasha Solomons, which I actually picked up at the dollar store. It’s a haunting love story about brothers who fall in love with the same girl, and the powerful role music and their childhood home play in their lives (and love story). I don’t want to give anything away, but this was one that stuck with me for days after reading it.
The second book was The Lake House by Kate Morton. If you’ve read any of her other books, you know how the plots keep you tearing through the book trying to find out the answer to whatever riddle she has posed. This book was even more of a mystery than the others I’ve read, and I stayed up until 2am two nights in a row to finish it. Definitely worth the read!
New Favorite Invention
I mentioned in May that I had some new rugs, and I found these beautiful Loloi rugs at a couple of different Home Goods locations. I recently discovered my new favorite invention, thanks to my sister-in-law. Double sided rug tape. This may seem like such an obvious purchase, but we were slip-sliding around our kitchen trying to figure out how to keep our rugs in place until I ordered up this amazing (and great valued) rug tape. I even had to peel the rug nearest our fridge up to air out after an unfortunate freezer leak, and the tape still worked, even after getting wet!
That wraps up my month in review, and just a heads up that I’ll be taking it easy on the blogging front over the next few weeks until my kiddos start back up at school. We’re looking forward to some playdates, beach time, and hopefully at least one more trip back up to the lake. What are your plans for the rest of the summer? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
